Mourners bid farewell Saturday to R. Sargent Shriver, the man responsible for launching the Peace Corps after the wedding in the Kennedy family.
Shriver, 95, died Tuesday after suffering from Alzheimer's disease for years. His funeral will be held at 10 am in Potomac, Maryland.
Vice President Joe Biden and the first lady Michelle Obama will attend the funeral, according to Shriver's homepage. Biden is expected to give remarks.
"He lived to make the world a happier, loyal and compassionate," his family said in a statement. "He worked at various stages, large and small, but in the end is best known for his love with others. No one ever before him, knowing his passion and enthusiasm for them."
Barack Obama President Shriver describes as "one of the most brilliant of his generation."
"His many lasting contributions, is perhaps best remembered for creating the Director of Peace Corps to help make it possible for generations of Americans act as goodwill ambassadors abroad," Obama said.
When you check the Peace Corps to launch in 1960, Shriver went on the next presidential administration. He raised his activism throughout his life, he became the chief architect of President Lyndon B.

Peace Corps is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. More than 200,000 volunteers have served in 139 countries on issues like education, public health and environmental protection.

Shriver is also the chairman of the International Special Olympics, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, founded in 1968. The organization sponsors sporting events around the world, people with intellectual disabilities.
Shriver was born in Westminster, Maryland, and graduated from Yale University. It has also long been active in the Roman Catholic Church.
Eunice Kennedy Shriver died in 2009.
The Shriver had five children including Maria Shriver, the former first lady of California.
