President Obama is officially offered a state dinner for the Chinese side on Wednesday - part of the day, which provides for bilateral talks and a joint press conference.
Chinese President Hu Jintao is on a three-day trip to the U.S. for talks on trade, currency and North Korea. This will be the eighth meeting face to face meeting between the two leaders.
Hu will emphasize the importance of a comprehensive partnership between the two countries to help ensure stability in the world, Chinese state media reported, despite their differences on issues like the rights of Man and exchange controls.
Besides Obama is the leader planned to meet with legislators and top business leaders, then visit Chicago.
Hu arrived at the base joint Andrews in Maryland on Tuesday for a reception that included an honor guard and military band played the national anthems of both countries. Vice President Joe Biden has hailed the arrival.
Later Tuesday, it had a small dinner at the White House, Obama, Hillary Clinton and National Security Adviser Tom Donilon.
"It's kind of an informal atmosphere in which some of these discussions," said the White House, Robert Gibbs, on the dinner.
Last Wednesday, the two leaders will have bilateral talks followed by a joint press conference. Hu is the guest of honor is a formal state dinner.
This dinner marks the third state dinner in the Obama administration.
The last White House state dinner in China was 13 years ago, when President Bill Clinton has accepted President Jiang Zemin and his wife Wang Yeping, in October 1997.
Before the arrival of Hu, U.S. lawmakers and criticized the protesters of China's human rights, including political repression, and called on Obama to press the issue in his talks with Chinese leader.
"It's important to honor and remember those who are unable to attend the state dinner instead of the present," said the Rev. Patrick Mahoney, director of the Christian Defense Coalition, in a statement.
"As customers are eating expensive and extravagant food, there will be tens of being oppressed and jailed by the Chinese government because of their faith and their political beliefs. People like Nobel prize Liu Xiaobo, who is in jail"
Gibbs said Obama would raise human rights concerns Hu.
"It 's obviously a very important topic that the two leaders speak," Gibbs told reporters. "We are still difficult conversations" with China on this matter.
The meeting this week between the leaders of two of the largest economies in the world also has focused on the criticism that the People's Bank is controlled by the government of China undervalues the yuan artificially reducing the cost of Chinese exports which would give it an edge in the international market.
Last week, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said that China must do more to show an undervalued currency and a dependence on exports, adding that such a move is Beijing's interest, as is inflation.
Senate Democrats this week have renewed their push to take action against countries that manipulate their currencies, with China clearly in sight.
A bill introduced Monday by Sen. Charles Schumer of New York Democrats and two penalties, including possible charges in countries that manipulate their currencies.
The senators told reporters in a conference call that the Chinese currency and trade policies of U.S. manufacturers and lower cost American jobs.
"The Chinese currency is like a boot on the throat of the American economic recovery," said Schumer.
But Hu has rejected the argument that price stability is the reason for the yuan appreciation, "says the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal that the rate of inflation in China is" moderate and manageable. "
