Deputy: Woman Killed Outside Walmart Linked To Shooting Suspect

The authorities say they believe the young woman, who died in a shooting outside the store Wal-Mart in connection with the shooting suspect.

A woman - thought to be a teenager --- was one of two people were killed Sunday afternoon after the shooting in Port Orchard, Washington.

"We do not think it was just a head shop unrelated incident. We believe that it has partnered with the suspect, but we could not establish the relationship," said Kitsap County Sheriff's Office spokesman Deputy Scott Wilson. She has not yet been identified.

Two sheriff's deputies who were injured in the shooting, she was not recovering from life-threatening injuries Sunday night.

"They live," said Wilson.

Three sheriff's deputies responded to the Walmart store around 3:45 p.m. Sunday after receiving a call about a suspicious person "of a spectator who had concerns about a person inside the store," said Wilson.

The deputies approached a man outside the south entrance of the store, but the man ran from the scene.

"They (the deputies) called me and said, 'Hey, we need to talk to you," said Wilson. "He turned and fired on them, and they responded."

A man was shot and later pronounced dead and the Walmart parking lot. From late Sunday night, the authorities have not released his name, age or other details about him.

Wilson described the situation as "somewhat chaotic" but "stabilized".

"There is no danger to the community right now," he said. "We believe that all people (who were) involved ... have been taken into account."

Washington State Police were about to take over as leader of inquiry in the case, and the office of Kitsap County sheriff requested assistance from the FBI.

The incident occurred near one of the retail giant's stores in Port Orchard, a city west of Parkwood. Located at the entrance Sinclair, Port Orchard is about 30 miles north-northwest of Tacoma and throughout the Puget Sound from Seattle.

The store was closed for about 20 minutes immediately after the shooting about 100 people inside, "said Mike Lambert Walmart customer Kiro CNN affiliate.
